Author visits to schools and other resources

Inspiring the next generation of readers

Meeting authors is a great way to get children enthusiastic about books.

We can help set up visits and provide books on a sale or return basis for the author to sign. Or we can help you with a book order form to share with your pupils.

Through our connections with publishers, we can supply a broader range of books, including new and up-to-date titles for children reading freely, ensuring you have plenty of choice across the curriculum and for different ages and reading needs.

BOH Icon Reading

Dyslexic and reluctant readers

We specialise in providing dyslexic friendly books for young readers, ensuring everyone can benefit from a good read.

You can browse the range here.

We also stock a range of Quick Read books – short books by bestselling authors which are great for older children and teenagers who are reluctant readers.

BOH Icon Token

Book tokens and World Book Day

Book tokens are a great way to reward your children - and incentivise them to read more.

We supply our own tokens, encouraging families to come into the shop and choose their favourite books.

Likewise with World Book Day. When you give the vouchers to your pupils, please direct them into the shop, we stock all the books, plus they’ll get to experience the joy of a small, local bookshop!

I did a day of school events with Alistair and always felt I was in safe hands. I found him punctual, organised and really good company. His knowledge of the publishing industry is terrific and I had a great welcome in the shop.

Bringing the ‘bookshop’ to school and dealing with the sales has made it very easy and means that the children can buy the book and have it signed by the author on the day which is so special for them.
